From China to Fresno:
A 150-Year Cultural Journey
Our Current Exhibit in the Gallery at Kearney Mansion is a very special collection containing artifacts that have been hidden away in the Fresno County Historical Society Archive for more than five decades. With the partnership of the Chinese American Museum Project and the Consolidated Chinese Benevolent Association we are excited to present From China to Fresno: A 150-Year Cultural Journey.

Gallery viewing is included at the end of Kearney Mansion Museum Tours on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays or guests may choose a Gallery Only Visit when booking with us.

Private Group Tours are also available by appointment only.

Our Fields of Fresno Ag Tour season runs from February through November. Check-in will always start at the Kearney Mansion Museum at 7160 W. Kearney Blvd, Fresno, CA 93706. Then you will hop on our spacious motor coach bus for a lively game of Ag Trivia and prizes with our Tour Director as you travel to three agricultural sites for curated tours. All tours include lunch and tasting at a local winery or beer garden.

This year from October 23rd to 27th, our mystery will take place in 1931. As you step into the past at Kearney Mansion, you could be forgiven for thinking the Great Depression was already over.​ Ben Carrie-Deway, one of the nouveau riche, and owner of the Mansion is well known for hosting lavish soirees, and tonight was no exception and you have been invited to the affair.​ Be sure to dress the part, cocktail dresses, feather boas and top hats are encouraged, although not required.
​
Before the evening ends all the guests will be suspects and it’s up to the you to solve the crime!​

Succulent Social with Gray Pot

Our first Succulent Social and Twilight Tour at Kearney Mansion, was held on Thursday, June 26th from 6:30 PM – 8:30 PM
Guests were greeted with champagne and charcuterie-style goodies before a hands-on succulent planting workshop led by local artisan Trish Williams. The night ended with an exclusive twilight tour of Kearney Mansion.

Mural District Walking Tour
Guided tour of public art in Fresno's Mural District occurring during "Why Not Wednesday Art Hop" in Downtown Fresno on the third Wednesday of the month from 7:00PM to 8:30PM. Includes one complimentary beverage midway of the tour at South a Shaw Brewery

We celebrated Mom on Saturday, May 10, 2025 at the Kearney Mansion Museum with a traditional tea party. This special event featured a choice of seating in the Mansion dining room or on the veranda overlooking Kearney Park.
This lovely event was sponsored by Fresno Coin Gallery.
On Saturday, May 10th at 9:00AM we hosted a guided tour of the historic Huntington neighborhood.

Neighborhood Walking Tour

San Joaquin River Walking Tour
We will kicked off a new set of walking tours on Saturday, May 3rd. The 1.5-hour walk was a guided history and nature tour on a trail by the San Joaquin River. Starting from Sumner Peck Ranch's U-Pick store to Ball Ranch.

On April 5, 2025, please join us for an unforgettable evening of food, drinks, and friendly competition at Moonlight Mahjong! This unique fundraising event invites you to learn and play the traditional Hong Kong/Cantonese style of mahjong—just as it was enjoyed by the Chinese immigrants who shaped the Valley’s history, as featured in our From China to Fresno exhibit.
On March 28th the Fresno City & County Historical Society took a trip to the 1960s for their annual annual gala event. Guests were treated to an experience like no other beginning with dinner and live entertainment at Frank's Place on Fulton Street in Downtown Fresno. They were greeted with a 60s inspired welcome cocktail before sitting down to a fab meal and some groovy tunes before moving into GREAT SEATS in the Warnors Theatre for a concert with MANIA! The Beatles Experience.

This History Happy Hour was held on Friday, February 7, 2025 at The Archive on Kern. Guests were treated to an engaging lecture and presentation by John Cho as we explore the rich history, vibrant customs, and cherished traditions of Chinese Lunar New Year.​

For the 2024 holiday season, the Society brought the magic back to the Kearney Mansion Museum & Gallery with our annual Christmas at Kearney display. The Mansion was filled with decorated trees, each representing a local decorator's interpretation of a favorite Holiday dessert.

On Friday, March 22, 2024, the Fresno County Historical Society held our annual Gala at the famous Downtown Club. We will celebrated the 1950s with a Tiki-Themed party that brought back the Island fever that swept though the Golden Age of prosperity and progress. This special event featured a grazing feast, the musical stylings of The Hula Girls and classic Tiki cocktails.

The Mansion was filled with decorated trees, each representing a local decorator's interpretation of a treasured Christmas Story for our Holiday Tales theme.

On March 25, 2022 the Society celebrate the 1930s. A decade that gave voice to films, filled the radio with fireside chats and saw America tested and our country rise to accomplish more, be more and do more than any decade before. Guests were able to party like movie stars, rub shoulders with gamblers, dance to big band jazz and swing all night long at the Fresno County Historical Society’s Night at the Cocoanut Grove at The Grand 1401.



This holiday season, the Society will bring Christmas back to the Kearney Mansion Museum & Gallery with our annual display for Christmas at Kearney. The Mansion will be filled with decorated trees, each representing a local decorator's interpretation of a favorite Christmas Carol for our Sounds of the Season theme. From November 26 through New Year's Day, guests will learn the history of some of the oldest, most popular and well-known Christmas songs as well as that of M. Theo Kearney and the Fruit Vale Estate. Several events are planned during the month, including a Meet & Greet with Santa, Holiday Tea Party and a Members' Reception.

During the Covid-19 pandemic, your FCHS has been working to ensure our students are still connecting to history and social studies lessons! Although our FCHS annual Living History event was not able to be held in 2020, the Society, along with our generous sponsors, is able to provide the School Days experience through an exciting array of online digital curriculum. Twelve immersive and unique lessons will take students on a journey to the America of the 1800s and will share the story of Fresno County in the 19th century though activities, video presentations and learning about historical figures of the time.

From December 1, 2019 to January 3, 2020 the Fresno Historical Society presented a holiday display of Christmas trees throughout the Kearney Mansion Museum. Each tree represented a different decade over the 100 year history of the Fresno Historical Society. The installation was accompanied by festive holiday events throughout the month of December.
Party likes its 1919! On Saturday, April 6, 2019 the Fresno Historical Society hosted a Gala Celebration to kick off the organization's Centennial Year. The event transformed the grounds of Kearney Mansion into a sparkling event in the tradition of the Great Gatsby. Guests enjoyed champagne and cocktails while watching amazing high-wire entertainments and a magician and danced to the music from a bygone era.
