VIRTUAL

EVENT

During the Covid-19 pandemic, your FCHS has been working to ensure our students are still connecting to history and social studies lessons! Although our FCHS annual Living History event was not able to be held in 2020, the Society, along with our generous sponsors, is able to provide the School Days experience through an exciting array of online digital curriculum. Twelve immersive and unique lessons will take students on a journey to the America of the 1800s and will share the story of Fresno County in the 19th century though activities, video presentations and connecting with historical figures of the time.

This project has been made possible by: Educational Employees Credit Union, Clovis Unified School District, Fresno Unified School District, Assemi Group Inc, Smittcamp Family Foundation, The Bonner Family Foundation and California Bank & Trust, with additional support from the Fresno County Superintendent of Schools and Bank of America.

UPCOMING EVENTS

Plan to celebrate Mom on Saturday, May 8, 2021 at the Kearney Mansion Museum with a traditional tea party. The planned event is scheduled to be held on the Mansion's veranda with tables well spaced apart.

The event offers two seating times for tea at 11:00 AM and 3:00 PM and is expected to sell out. In the event that Fresno County is not in Tier 3 by May, this event can be held virtually with beautiful tea boxes packaged for enjoyment at home during an online program.

PAST EVENTS

Held on December 19, 2020 this virtual Holiday Tea Party featured a seasonal and lavish experience from the comfort and safety of home. This unique event included a tea party in a box complete with keepsake china tea cup and saucer, English tea, honey, clotted cream, scones, cookies & petit fours - just add hot water.

Our virtual program featured experts in etiquette and gift wrapping as well as a chance to bid on a beautifully decorated Christmas tree.

From December 1, 2019  to January 3, 2020 the Fresno Historical Society presented a holiday display of Christmas trees throughout the Kearney Mansion Museum. Each tree represented a different decade over the 100 year history of the Fresno Historical Society.  The installation was accompanied by festive holiday events throughout the month of December.

On October 19th & 20th of 2019, Kearney Park was transformed for the 30th year of Civil War Revisited, the largest signature event of its kind west of the Mississippi.  All proceeds benefited the Society.  Hundreds of reenactors, period craftspersons and actors portraying historical figures came together to create a living history that was both educational and entertaining.

Party likes its 1919!  On Saturday, April 6, 2019 the Fresno Historical Society hosted a Gala Celebration to kick off the organization's Centennial Year.  The event transformed the grounds of Kearney Mansion into a sparkling event in the tradition of the Great Gatsby.  Guests enjoyed champagne and cocktails while watching amazing high-wire entertainments and a magician and danced to the music from a bygone era.
