TIME TRAVELERS
Educator Guide
Welcome to our Virtual Event! This all-digital Time Travelers adventure is designed to transport your classroom to the 19th Century right here in Fresno County, California.

The experience is broken into three areas: Daily Life, Historic Figures and Communities.

The Daily Life section presents students with a picture of what life was like in the 19th and very early 20th centuries. Each of the four sections presents a video or photo album along with a short reading and a downloadable question sheet that can be used to guide discussion, assigned as quick write prompt or taken as a quiz.

The Historic Figures section presents personal profiles of five real people who lived in Fresno County during the 1800s.

The Communities section offers primary and secondary source material along with narrative readings on several immigrant communities and settlers that have made Fresno County home. The Native American tribes for whom the Central Valley is their ancestral home, and many immigrant communities that came to the area between 1850 and 1950. Each of these areas also include a downloadable list of questions that can be used to guide discussion, assigned as quick write prompt or taken as a quiz. Several of these sections also include detailed lesson plans with suggested classroom activities for students.
The questions have been designed for 4th and 5th grade classes, but can be augmented to work for any grade level.
