Volunteer dates for 2016 Civil War Revisited:

Thursday, October 20 through Sunday, October 24, 2016

We always welcome volunteers at the Civil War Revisited event.  The event wouldn’t happen without the support of what has become over the years an army of terrific volunteers!


If you would like to help support the 2016 Civil War Revisited event as a volunteer, we would love to hear from you. We will start taking volunteer sign ups on Volunteer Spot in August 2016. Please watch this page for updates.

Volunteers needed for the "Time Travelers at the Civil War" Education Days - Thursday, October 20 & Friday, October 21. These Education Days are the foundation of our event and are open by reservation to thousands of students from various school districts throughout the Central Valley. Your help is appreciated in bringing this opportunity to our Valley students.

Volunteers needed for the Civil War Revisited Weekend on Saturday, October 22 & Sunday, October 23. Extra help is always appreciated for take down on Sunday the 23rd and a few volunteer positions are available on Tuesday and Wednesday, October 20 & 21 for set-up help. We are happy to fulfill school and community service requirements.

Examples of Civil War Revisited  volunteer opportunities:


Old Glory Mercantile

Assist with sales in the Historical Society event mercantile - helping customers locate merchandise and assist with restocking needs. Also need volunteers to help in the mercantile during the Thursday & Friday "Time Travelers at the Civil War"Education Days.


Children's Games Tent

Demonstrate Civil War games that children played in the 1860s.


Admission / Information Booth

Collect admission or hand out schedule of event, answer general questions about the event, sell meal tickets, and memberships. Training will be provided. 


Beer Booth

Must be 21 and over to serve.


Kearney Mansion Museum

Serve as a docent in one of the rooms of the Mansion - talking with visitors about the area and helping direct the flow of traffic through the house


Refreshment Booth

Sell drinks and snacks.  Cash-handling experience desirable.


Take Down

Assist on Sunday evening between from 3:00 pm to 7:00 pm to take down the event 


Shifts are generally 3 – 3 ½ hours long.  You may choose to work one or both days. All of our volunteers receive event passes to gain admittance, and most come early or stay after their volunteers shifts to enjoy all of the activities.
